think of the children

  • That’s it, straight to bed…

…and no cancer! But seriously, if you’ve got a fin you were going to spend on a doughnut and a Jolt or something, can I have it? It won’t go to waste or waist, I promise.

Think of it this way: if everyone on my email/Facebook list donated $5 towards my film, and everyone on their lists gave $1, I’d reach my goal. Kinda cool, don’t you think? And if I don’t reach it, you get your money back. Simples!

But even if you don’t throw me a buck or two, I still want you to have a great weekend. That’s just how I roll, yo.

  • Just keep still…

…and try not to look like a fruit.

  • Remember, the book mobile…

…was just a big ol’ trailer. I miss the book mobile, frankly. Best part of a dull school year. It was great to hand in your check-marked slip with your parents’ money and get a shiny new book. Speaking of your parents’ money, you think they would mind throwing a few bucks my way? I’m producing this movie, see, and I could use a little help. For more info, check out the movie website/blog and/or “Like” us on Facebook. I think you’ll find we’re doing something pretty cool and very original. We might even write a book about the making of it!

And then your children could go to the book mobile at school, check-mark a slip, and…

  • Bite…

    …me. Do.

As Scott continues shooting HorrorCon in New Jersey, I hope and expect for him the absolute pleasure it is to be involved in the pursuit of filmmaking with talented friends. Back in October, I had the privilege of shooting stills of Pavane for a Vampire Queen with the supremely talented Kevin Jackson and Spike Geilinger along with my beautiful and clever friends in the cast and crew. It was a wonderful day, reflected in the outcome above. The short is a joy to watch and even more so for me as it brings back memories of such a special day. And with luck, we’ll all do it again soon as another project peeks above the horizon.

The film premiered this week at Sydney Sussex College and on the big screen at the Riverside Cinema in London. Watch it in HD if you can!

  • The Days before video games: Episode 4

If you have to ask, you never whoahed.

  • Scary Good News!

No, I’ve not been put on the NY Times Bestseller List (yet), or been nominated for an Oscar (or Razzie) (yet), but it appears as if Atlantic City will finally be replacing Brigantine Castle! I remember driving to my grandmother’s shore house as a kid and seeing the ominous monstrosity hovering over all the little families as they frolicked in the surf. It was the ultimate in edge-of-town darkness, and its loss hurt me deeply.

But the new attraction will be called the Hollywood Horror Cafe (artist conception above), and it will be a horror-themed restaurant and wax museum. Even better, the venture is being directed by Sara Karloff (Boris’ daughter) and Bela Lugosi Jr. They’ll be licensing lots of authentic items to decorate the place, and I for one am stoked.

  • Ham-face girl…

…eats her face. I know…I’m hungry now, too.

    Have a great weekend.

  • A word to the wise…

    …will suffice, today.

  • An apple a day…

…and this could all have been avoided.

  • The days before video games: Episode 3

The individual you see in the photo above is what we used to refer to as “it”. Anyone could be it. You, your sister, your brother, your best friend, the kid down the street – all it took was a touch of a finger. At that point, it was your duty to make someone else it. It was kind of like playing “infection”, or “cooties”. You didn’t have to have a mask on, but we sometimes did. It made it scarier to be chased. And being scared and being chased was all the action our young, healthy, well-exercised, adrenal glands could handle.
